greetings and raw salutations!

We've had incredibly busy weeks lately. I hope you are all doing well. Thank you for your comments and feedback and please keep them coming. I so appreciate you taking the time to tell me what's been going on in your raw world.

Our raw food is at City Market as of TODAY! Check out the grab and go section for the Not Tuna, Eggless Egg Salad, Ginger Crackers, Spice Cookies, Super Mint Fudge, Super Orange Fudge AND the God Butter along with it's companion Goddess Butter. How exciting! I can't wait for you to try them all if you haven't but particularly the god and goddess butter. The Goddess Butter is dark chocolate with REALLY raw almond butter. It's creamy and smooth and really tasty. The God Butter is white chocolate with really raw cashew butter along with some god-like spices like orange peel, ginger and cinnamon. These tastes are heavenly and I soon hope to put the two together in one container and I'll be calling them the Great Rite. HA! I love this work.

Where else can you find our food? Sweet Clover Market (They should just call it the Sweet Market - it's so sweet in there) and Hunger Mountain Coop. Please check them out - they are so lovely and that's not just because they carry my stuff! (although it helps!) :-) teasing... Also, please just email me if you'd like to get anything for yourself. Just ask! linda@vt-fiddle.com

This Wednesday, Feb 6th, I'm starting a series of Uncooking classes for some homeschoolers in Lebanon, NH. I'm always very happy and excited to teach these classes to people including kids. If you can get the kids to love the good food they are eating, you're doing good things!

Tuesday, February 12th from 6:30 - 7:30 pm is a raw food workshop at Hunger Mountain Coop. We'll be making Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshakes - how does that grab ya? I was asked if I could pick a heart healthy recipe for the month of February and I couldn't resist picking one that just makes you go "Sha-what?!" But you see, these are healthy milkshakes that you and your kids will love. Please contact Krystal at Member Services to sign up info@hungermountain.com

I'M HERE FOR YOUR RAW FOOD NEEDS...

Please call me or email me if you have any bulk foods or raw food needs. I have appliances and super foods/supplements as well as bulk foods like carob powder, cacao powder, nibs, butter, bee pollen and nuts and seeds, to name a few. On my list is to update that website more and more each month but in the meantime, please call me at 223-2111 or email me at linda@vt-fiddle.com for anything you may or may not see on the website. I'm getting 2 sizes in of the VitaMineral Green and I have other Healthforce Nutritional items. Need a VitamixSpiral Slicer or NUT MILK BAG? :-D

super stuff to check out
• My friend told me about Byron Katie a few years back and I have a couple of her books. I've never heard her speak though and just recently heard her being interviewed at that Raw Summit thing. They played the cancer video during the interview and that made me go to her website where I spent like an hour watching all the videos. It was totally amazing to actually see and hear it in action. This one on controlling mothers cracks me up. It's wonderful and all of the videos have touched me - sooooo awesome:  http://www.thework.com/video_mother.asp

• My friend Pat sent me this article: Can a raw-foods diet be balanced? - Healthy by Choice, Vegetarian Times - it's a pretty good article and yet some info is not totally current - or maybe I should say that there is other research that also negates some of what is stated in the article. As with everything, you have to find what works for you.

• Here are some good resources all from Mike Adam's websites - happy reading!http://www.honestfoodguide.org/ - a free downloadable charthttp://www.herbreference.com/ - healing herbs database for your referencehttp://www.naturalnews.com/ - for interesting updates on food, nutrition, health, etc.

http://www.naturalnews.com/022560.html - silly video that this dude did for this super bowl weekend (Super Foods Bowl). Apparently he likes to do little cartoons and animations as well - it's cute.

ok and now for that recipe

Here's a nice recipe for the dehydrator. Where to get a dehydrator? Well, me silly! Just give me a call or shoot me an email and I'll hook you up. :-)

Dried Apple Treats (with many variations)

4 of your favorite apples like Fuji, Pink Lady, or Braeburn apples

Variations:

Juice of 1/4 Pineapple and/or 1/4 cup lemon juice1tsp each of cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg or allspice with a pinch of salt along with 1 tbsp raw honey or agave

Peel and slice apples to about 1/8" thick rings

Variation #1: Lay on the mesh sheet of the dehydrator and set temperature to 105º in order to make your own dried apple ring snacks.

Variation #2: Marinate in the pineapple lemon juice for an hour and then dehydrate for sweet & sour apple snacks

Variation #3: Put the apple slices in a bowl and sort of rub the mixture of spices/honey and then place on the mesh sheets for dehydrating.

Variation #4: Try just the pineapple OR the lemon juice and see how that tastes after dehydrating.

Variation #5: Throw everything into a bowl and marinate together to make a taste explosion treat.

Variation #6: Chop up the apples into cubes, put in a bowl with a drizzle of lemon, a drizzle of pineapple juice, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, with a pinch of salt and a tiny drizzle of agave and have yourself a hydration lunch feast! :-)

Enjoy yourself,
Linda
