have a RAWdient day!

Greetings and raw salutations! It's been a little while since writing so here's the updates:

if you've driven by the little yellow house, you've no doubt seen some changes. most all the plants are in the ground and some new colors are coming up on the exterior! I'm deeply grateful for this work and help that is going towards beautifying the space and creating a sustainable model for us to use.

it was an overcast day when this picture was taken. Robin Merriam is the painter/muralist. My daughter Emily helped a bit, too! We'll be sure to take more photos so we can really show you how pretty this is...

pat took these pictures. it was a gorgeous & hot day and I think pat was staying inside the cool house taking pictures while we were outside...

Matthew Delorey planting - he's the permaculturist who lives here in Worcester. So when you see him, tell him you love seeing his garden design at Fiddle Heads! :-)

pat playing with perspective shots on her camera.

linda acting like the stern and determined gardener! (so silly)

we dug out a LOT of rocks - we used the rocks to outline the garden beds.

see that beautiful compost? that's Vermont Compost! we're so grateful for that s&*t! :-)
(what a nice picture of Matt!)

this is my favorite planting photo, I think. thanks pat for watching my kids and taking the pictures while we dug some holes.

Matt is in full production of these nut milk bags! He's amazing - he's all about efficiency! He takes great delight in working better and faster. It's like a game to him. So he's greatly improved the durability and strength of these things. I've made an informative label for them and we're hoping to get them out there for people to use for juicing, sprouting and making nut milks.

I'm busy with workshops, classes and raw food challenges! Summer is seeming to be the time when people are ready to begin the raw food journey! yippy-skippy! I'm currently doing the Level 1 and 2 classes combined with 30-day challenges. These are sure fun and a great way to really learn and practice this lifestyle.

I'm talking with the Plainfield Coop about orchestrating an intro to raw foods where we'll have a question/answer about what it is and I'll have some samples of food. If you think you might be interested, please send me an email. We're tossing dates around and week day evenings look to be good.

upcoming raw food haps

see my complete calendar here

Tuesday, July 17th from 6-7 pm, a workshop on Angel Hair Pasta with Marinara at Hunger Mountain Coop. This recipe is literally what I ate for 2-3 weeks straight from my garden last summer. It is so fresh and delicious.

Thursday, July 19th from 6-8 pm, a raw food potluck at 18 Worcester Village Rd, Worcester. I just received this DVD in the mail called SUPERCHARGE ME, 30-Days Raw and I thought it would be fun to watch together. We'd be watching on my laptop since I don't have a TV here. We can eat and watch.

Saturday, July 21st from 2-3 is the Strawberry Crepes workshop at Plainfield Coop. This is a fantastic recipe that the kids just love (we all do.) Perfect to learn so you can make it for sunday brunches (or have it for a very lovely dessert!)

Tuesday, July 31st from 6-7 is the Raw Cremees workshop at Hunger Mountain Coop. This is an appliance-heavy workshop (meaning I'll be carrying heavy appliances!) :-) But there'll be no excuses - you'll be able to make yourself a raw soft serve any time you want it

Weekly Raw Food Coaching is available! This is ideal for those who wish to receive weekly raw food recipes (a food plan) plus email support. I have weekly recipes for the newbie raw fooder (or for anyone who wishes to have a raw food dietary plan mapped out for them.) You'll receive 3 recipes plus snacks each day for 7 days. Recipes plus shopping list are included as well as email support from me! Cost of weekly food plan + email support is $40.00/week. Contact me at 223-2111 or linda@vt-fiddle.com for more info or to register.

Guided Customized Raw Food Challenges are also available! Please contact me for information: 223-2111 or linda@vt-fiddle.com

• For all of my raw food classes (including Alissa's) I offer a free NUT MILK/SPROUTING BAG to Hunger Mountain Coop members. So mention that when you register for classes and I'll hook you up.

• I also have Alissa's Living on Live Food book here for sale and it is also for sale at Hunger Mountain Coop.

and now for the raw food recipe

Kohlrabi slaw
by Linda Wooliever

• 5-6 good sized kohlrabi, peeled and grated
• 4-5 large carrots, grated (peeled optional)
• a few of the kohlrabi greens, washed, de-stemmed and chopped
• 1/4 of an onion, chopped (optional)

Put everything in a bowl and set aside. You can substitute cabbage for kohlrabi or or include some in as extra. Purple cabbage is my favorite.

• 2 lemons, peeled and de-seeded
• 1 tsp ground ginger
• 1 pinch of ground mustard
• 3-4 Tbsp. olive oil
• 3-4 Tbsp. nama shoyu
• 1 medium orange, peeled and de-seeded
• 2-3 Tbsp. raw honey or agave

Put all ingredients in the Vita-Mix and blend for like 30 seconds. Pour the dressing over the veggies and let sit or serve immediately. Whichever.

Enjoy RAWdient health!
Linda
